Alia Bhatt, born March 15, 1993, is a British-Indian actress. Soni Razdan is the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Mahesh Bhatt. In Karan Johar’s youth drama Student of the Year (2012), she played her first leading role after debuting as a child actress in 1999’s thriller Sangharsh.

She appeared in several movies directed by Karan Johar, including the romantic comedies 2 States (released in 2014), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (released in 2014), and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (released in 2017), as well as Dear Zindagi (2016). The actress was born on March 15, 1993, into the Bhatt family in Bombay (today’s Mumbai) to actress Soni Razdan and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. She is descended from Kashmiri Pandit and German parents, while her father is from Gujarat. Bhatt received her education at Jamnabai Narsee School. Originally from Britain, she now resides in the United States. She has two half-siblings, Pooja and Rahul Bhatt, and an older sister, Shaheen. Mohit Suri and Emraan Hashmi are her paternal cousins, and Mukesh Bhatt is her uncle.

“I grew up in a humble and grounded environment; I didn’t have the joys people imagine I would have had because of my father, Mahesh Bhaat.” Bhatt did not have a strong relationship with her father as a child. Because her husband was uninterested in her children, Soni Razda TEMPhas raised her children mostly as single parents.

Following that, she starred in Sadak 2 (2020) with Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapoor, a sequel to her father’s crime thriller Sadak (1991), which could not be released in theaters due to the COVID-19 outbreak and instead aired on Disney+ Hotstar. During the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in 2022, Alia Bhatt played the titular prostitute in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s crime thriller Gangubai Kathiawadi. As part of her preparation, she studied Meena Kumari’s work. She received much praise for this film.
